Josh Lazarus will be teachning the Pyrotechnic Guild International (
PGI)'s Display Operator Certification (
DOC) course on Saturday 3 May 2025 at a rural property in Southeast Lake county. This property is known on google maps as
Horsehead Pond, FL .

Learn how to set up a commercial fireworks display. If you are pursuing PGI Display Operator Certification, you must attend all parts of the class and pass the exam. This is an accepted safety course for licensing in many states and is recommended for anyone who wants to increase their knowledge of current NFPA regulations, requirements, and safety protocols for commercial fireworks displays. The class will consist of a lecture followed by hands-on field work including firing shells and demonstrations, and an exam. The latest edition of the PGI Display Operator Course book will be used for this class and it is yours to keep as a reference following the class. A certificate of training will be issued to those students who complete all portions of the class. Water will be provided and there will be a break for lunch.
The
cost is $95 per attendee and includes the PGI's DOC book.
The course will consist of:
- morning lecture
- lunch break
- afternoon lecture
- written exam
- practical (demonstration and hands-on shell load & fire)
- completion-certificate presentation (for those passing the written exam)
What to BRING:
- Pen or Pencil
- Safety Glasses
- hard hat
- Long-legged pants and long-sleeve shirt, both of cotton or other flame resistant materials
- Closed-toe shoes (no flipflops, sandals, etc)
NOTE: This course is at the same location, and on the same date, as Four Seasons Firework (FSF)'s annual demo night for which registration at their website Four Seasons Fireworks is recommended.

Registration is required before Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at 5:00 PM

There is a minimum attendance of twenty-five students and if that has not been met by 23 April 2025, the class will be cancelled and registration fees refunded.
Attendees may cancel with refund until 22 April after which no refunds will be made. Otherwise, attendees may register until 5PM Wednesday April 23.
